Dow Solunar Model Update

The Solunar Model is a seasonal model that shows us what occurred, on average, in years that had the same solar/lunar alignment (phases, not perigee/apogee or eclipses) as this year. Here’s the model updated through the second quarter of 2012.

The model has the current rally lasting into November 7. The traditional year-end rally runs from November 19 to January 2. The model gives us plenty of definitive swings in coming months, suggesting that there will be decent opportunities for market movement in both directions over the next few months.

While doing this update, I discovered a calculation error in the model that effected 8% of the data input. The charts today have that error corrected. The chart above shows the entire 2011 model corrected for the error. The June 21 post here shows the 2011 model without the correction for comparison purposes. The error fix changed mostly the shape of the model and not so much the trend change points.
